    Lindley Edwards Resignation

With both sadness and gratitude, we must announce that Lindley Edwards will be resigning as the Non-Executive Director of Mindhive Pty Ltd.

Lindley has been with Mindhive since its inception, taking on the Non-Executive Director of Mindhive Pty Ltd. in 2017. Since then, she has helped usher in a new strategic plan through the Board of Directors and staff, helped build critical strategic partnerships, and provided guidance on improving and stabilising operations. Above all, she has always believed in the vision of Mindhive of what we set out to achieve – to create a more insightful world.

"I have been involved in Mindhive since its inception because I believe in the theory of the wisdom of crowds, which is based on evidence that independently sourced collective knowledge and opinions of a group are better at decision-making, problem-solving, and innovating than an individual.

Mindhive is at an exciting juncture where it is adding AI capabilities to further unlock crowd wisdom".

    Lindley Edwards

Lindley holds a PhD in Philosophy and two undergraduate degrees, one in Accounting and the other in Banking and Finance. She also holds several post-graduate qualifications in Corporate Governance, Technology Strategy and Digitization. Lindley has also undertaken various Financial Services regulatory courses. She is a Senior Fellow of FINSIA, the Australian Financial Services Industry body, a Member of the Australian Institute of Company Directors and a Fellow of the Royal Society of Arts and Sciences in London. Her knowledge, experience and wisdom have been invaluable to the Mindhive team.

Lindley leaves Mindhive in a very strong position for continued growth, and we sincerely thank her for her contribution and leadership during her time here. The Board wishes her the best of luck and opportunities in her future endeavours.

Lindley's last day will be June 30. Until then, the Board will continue to oversee the process of permanently filling the position.

We know you join us in wishing Lindley well over the coming months as she moves to spend more time in the US. If you have any questions about the transition or the organisation, do not hesitate to reach out to Bruce Muirhead at ceo@mindhive.org.

    May 2022

Mindhive worked at the team and program level in Queensland to plan and deliver change activities and lead stakeholder engagement for BDO in its engagement with the Department of Fisheries and Agriculture.

Mindhive utilised social networks and crowdsourcing to identify and engage insights from the critical Agtech stakeholders on the challenges and opportunities in the sector.

The Department was developing an AgTech Roadmap for Queensland. This roadmap plans to lead and shape Queensland’s strategic direction for AgTech development and adoption across Queensland. Throughout this process, we sought input from all stakeholders or interested parties across the ecosystem, including government, industry, entrepreneurs, corporates, capital and research organisations, to determine how we can all best work together to enhance Queensland’s reputation as a global leader in AgTech.

The Mindhive platform engagement and activity were beyond the industry standard.

The AgTech review enabled multiple and diverse voices around Queensland to engage in the review. The platform enabled all participants to discuss and surface the critical insights — a collaborative approach in an open environment. Everyone’s voice and insights were equal, transparent and influential.

In a Mindhive discussion, ideation is the process by which a discussion’s most valuable ideas, thoughts and insights are given special attention by discussion administrators and consolidated into an ideation card inside a discussion ideation page. From there, participants can vote on what they feel are the most valuable insights and even provide further comments to these ideation cards. Ideations are a way of visually condensing a highly active discussion’s most significant contributions in a way that is easy for users and discussion administrators to engage with.

    1. Stakeholder engagement with Agteach leaders.

    2. Apply and manage a call across the 12,000 national and international Mindhive experts and resource contributors

    3. State-based BDO project team interaction with the process.

    4. Develop the report.

The discussion generated critical recommendations for a future funding proposal:

What would help you increase/add AgTech to your business?

What role does the government play in supporting the adoption of AgTech?

How do you see the University / research space aiding the adoption of AgTech?

How would developers and suppliers of AgTech be best to get their solutions out there, so you are aware of them and how they can help?

Streamlining systems and processes by introducing an application that can automate tasks, connect and retrieve data from multiple types of hardware / software, allow a reduction in the need for labour and provide valuable insights into your business operation.

For AgTech to be successful in Australia, it would be good if we could establish first what AgTech is available out there and what works. By “out there”, we mean not only within Australia but also overseas instead of wasting time and money trying to develop and adopt AgTech for our industry that’s already out there and works. Adoption of AgTech will only be successful if it is proven to work, if a return on investment can be guaranteed and if it will add value to the user and our industry. AgTech applications/solutions also do not tend to be compatible and/or unable to communicate with each other.

    May 2022

Mindhive completes CBCAC review. Mindhive worked at the team and program level in Rockhampton to help government departments and youth organisations establish processes for managing youth crime in an agile way.

The activities Mindhive was explicitly responsible for:

The pilot and scoping approach used a problem-solving platform to develop a structured and systemised approach to unite service providers across Government, Education, Business and Civil Society in addressing youth crime in Rockhampton Region.

    What Mindhive did, and why:

CBCAC has identified that one of the most significant gaps/barriers to effective and efficient service provision is that agencies and service providers continue to primarily work in silos when addressing youth crime issues. Although CBCAC has brought agencies and service providers together to perform better in partnerships, there is no framework for a structured and coordinated whole of community response. A substantial CBCAC benefit is to develop the pilot scope for a structured systemised framework for the identified 35 agencies delivering the recognised 99 programs (for details, see results of the CBCAC funded ’Pathways Project – delivered in June 2021) addressing the precursors and the effects of youth crime in this Rockhampton region. The aims were to increase the impact of existing agency efforts.

The Mindhive platform engagement and activity were beyond the industry standard.

The CBCAC review enabled multiple and diverse voices worldwide to engage in the review.

    1. Project scoping and defining the central question (e.g.How to develop a

a systemised and structured approach to unite efforts across Government, Business, Education and Civil Society to address the causative and response mechanisms related to youth crime in the Rockhampton region).

    2. Apply and manage a call across the 12,000 national and international Mindhive experts and resource contributors

    3. Local CBCAC project team interaction with the process.

    4. Develop the pilot report and recommendations.

    The outcome

The discussion generated critical recommendations for a future funding proposal:

    Redefine Education:

Education is not a ‘one size fits all’ for all young people. Education must prepare young people with the skills for life, learning and work.

Funding for a Back Bone Agency:

Backbone agencies come in varying structures and systems. A backbone agency should be independent, have strong community relationships, build collective effort, and develop a collaborative, community-endorsed process to distribute and manage funds locally.

    Localised decision-making for funding expenditure:

Empower local communities to manage and distribute funding that supports effective and efficient programs that provide positive outcomes for young people.

    February 2022

Mindhive has signed a software evaluation agreement with a global Tier 1 global professional services company. The agreement provides for pilot testing with internal and external proof of concepts.

Mindhive was selected to bring 35 regional agencies delivering the identified 99 programs together to increase the impact of existing agency efforts. Read more here.

Mindhive completes QBCC review. The review examined the roles and responsibilities of the QBCC and Queensland Building and Construction (QBC) Board, along with the policies, procedures, and practices of the QBCC and QBC Board, to ensure these arrangements are best practice for a regulator of this kind and fit for purpose to deliver on the objectives under the QBCC Act. The activities Mindhive was explicitly responsible for: Mindhive has been selected as the consultation platform for the review. Partnering with a long-term client, the Queensland University of Technology, Mindhive’s collective intelligence capability was utilised in bringing together 400+ stakeholders to improve procedures and systems as it transitions to becoming an insights-driven regulator and review its dispute resolution and decision-making processes.

    What Mindhive did, and why

In a Mindhive discussion, ideation is the process by which a discussion’s most valuable ideas, thoughts and insights are given special attention by discussion administrators and consolidated into an ideation card inside a discussion ideation page. From there, participants can vote on what they feel are the most valuable insights and even provide further comments to these ideation cards. Ideations are a way of visually condensing a highly active discussion’s most significant contributions in a way that is easy for users and discussion administrators to engage with. 1. Apply and manage engagement across QBCC stakeholders, staff and board. 2. Develop the report and recommendations.

    The outcome

The review is built on work already undertaken by QBCC to improve procedures and systems as it transitions to becoming an insights-driven regulator and reviews its dispute resolution and decision-making processes.

The findings of the stakeholder engagement activities demonstrate that a wide variety of stakeholders have provided feedback to the independent reviewer regarding their perception of the QBCC within the terms of reference of the review. The written insights, suggestions and recommendations of those replying to the invitation to participate have been structured thematically, with 22% of the responses focused on complaints or the complaints handling process, 19% of responses identifying areas of the compliance framework for comment, 56% of responses focused on the QBCC as an organisation, including feedback and experiences regarding procedures, policies, systems, staff, leadership, and communication, and a small number of responses (3%) offering suggestions for expanded terms of reference for the review.

Mindhive is delighted to announce that they have expanded the Board of Directors, with Ben Johnston appointed as Director.

Ben Johnston has spent more than 18 years developing businesses, consulting on digital strategy and identifying market gaps and future trends. He's founded and co-founded some hugely successful companies, including digital ventures studio Josephmark (JM), motion design company Breeder, indigenous creative agency Gilimbaa. Portfolio companies include trending music platform We Are Hunted (acquired by Twitter in 2012), and Clipchamp (acquired by Microsoft in 2021).

Mindhive CEO Bruce Muirhead said of the appointment, "Ben has been a critical part of Mindhive's continuing global emergence. Ben first engaged with Mindhive when Josephmark reimagined and redesigned Mindhive."

"Ben's experience and knowledge of our company, the ideas industry, and the emerging metaverse bring great strength to Mindhive. We are delighted to have him joining the board and driving the company forward. His input from a strategic and design perspective will be hugely significant as we plan the next phase of the Mindhive's growth and expansion."

Ben said of his appointment, "I am delighted to have joined the Board of Directors and look forward to further assisting the business on a global strategic level. With the developing metaverse, Mindhive can capture the world's surplus capability in purposeful, new, exciting ways. It's an exciting time for the company's development and growth."

The board's expansion is another indication of the commitment Mindhive has to grow the business significantly over the coming years. Having experienced rapid growth since the transition to enterprise tech, there is a clear desire to keep that level of development moving forward.

Bruce added, "Our global strategic alliances, client development and AI machine learning will be key to our success and meeting our objectives. It is a fascinating time within the business and a great opportunity for all to develop along with the company."

With both sadness and gratitude, we must announce that Lindley Edwards will be resigning as the Chair of Mindhive Pty Ltd.

Lindley has been with Mindhive since its inception, taking on Chair of Mindhive Pty Ltd. in 2017. Since then, she has helped usher in a new strategic plan through the Board of Directors and staff, helped raise funds and build critical strategic partnerships, and provided guidance on improving and stabilising operations.

Lindley's last day will be June 30, when a successor or interim Chair will be named. Until then, the Board will continue to oversee the process of permanently filling the position.

I know you join me in wishing Lindley well over the coming months as she moves to spend more time in the US. If you have any questions about the transition or the organisation, do not hesitate to reach out to me at ceo@mindhive.org.
