What do Australian small businesses need in 2021? A Case Study in Partnership with Australian Small Business

Australian Small Business and Family Enterprise Ombudsman (ASBFEO) has sought out the Mindhive platform to help them conduct inquiries and research in order to better understand what small businesses need in 2021, particularly from the Federal Government. The research and insights generated in the platform would then help the Ombudsman in their role of small business advocate, when providing input into government policy and regulations following the end of Jobkeeper in March 2021.

“We’ve been using Mindhive to get out to small businesses broadly to be able to put ideas on the table”.

The Case Study

ASBFEO started a national discussion campaign to better understand what business owners need. In order to avoid any biases, they allowed participants to be incognito so they can share their thoughts and opinions honestly without being judged or identified. It has teamed up with Mindhive by using its platform to facilitate the discussion and ideation process.

What They Did

  • Launched social media marketing and paid media to engage the public and draw new participants to the discussion.

  • Initiated an EDM campaign to raise awareness of the discussion and initiate the ideation process with new insights and comments in the forum.

  • Brought highly active and engaged Mindhive members into the discussion so they can drive the conversation forward and draw a larger crowd.

The Results

ASBFEO was able to gain insights into what small businesses and family enterprises need, especially those who need the most help, and what this assistance should look like.

  • The discussion drew over 100 participants from a diverse range of professions and industries.

  • Over 5,000 people were made aware of the discussion including 256 of Mindhive’s most active and engaged users.
