Getting from the Now to the Next Economy
When I was choosing a career path, I thought “doing good” meant working in a charity, or for the government. I’ve had a go at both. I’ve worked with incredible people creating positive impacts in their communities and on the environment. I’ve also seen the limits of what can be done in either sector.
What’s Trending: Responding to COVID-19
It should come as no surprise that our collective response to Covid-19, and the long term consequences of this response, are questions firmly top of mind for the community. The second wave hitting Victoria has triggered a second wave of thinking around the pandemic and the decisions that are being made. Here are some questions to get you started. Is there an important question not being asked?
How to find the right problem to solve and create the right solution to solve it.
To be caught in the swell of an idea is something almost magical. It’s no secret that there are a myriad of problems that exist in wider society and that potentially millions of people would live better lives if these problems were solved.

Picture this: A Startup swap-meet where the entry fee is your knowledge
Collective intelligence has grown up in the digital age. From its humble roots in crowdsourced ideas and small-scale think tanks, the ability for thousands of people around the world to tackle a single issue is one that’s changing the way that thought and knowledge are generated.
Agility and Adaptability: either/or OR both/and
In my experience the words adaptability and agility are often used interchangeably, and in doing so lose their deeper meaning and therefore become less useful.
The threat of selfish knowledge generation
The widespread proliferation of collective intelligence has not only brought on a renaissance for group-powered thought but also paved the way for a new age of digitally enabled knowledge generation.
The Future of Strategic Decision-Making
With COVID wreaking havoc around the world, we’re being given a brutal reality check on the fragility of the systems we have built – economic, health, social. Yet in reality, COVID is only one of many potential disruptors in an increasingly complex world – how do we prepare as leaders to navigate this complexity?
6/ Everdeen
"I volunteer.” When faced with the impossible decision, Katniss Everdeen stepped up. Facing the eventuality of loss of something dearly valued, Katniss made the proactive decision to do something about it – by taking action, she faced an uncertain future head-on in a conscious attempt to take control of her circumstances.

Diversifying AI usage in collective intelligence
Recent discourse in the field of AI-driven collective intelligence has raised an interesting point for consideration. Namely that the maturing of the discipline has brought with it an increasingly narrow gaze in its approach to using artificial intelligence to further its goals.
Geoff Mulgan: A Loop Theory of Wisdom
Is it possible for an organisation, a system or a society, to become wiser? If so, how could we make this real and not just a vague invocation – like wishing people would be kinder or more loving?
Why we need more non-tech backgrounds working to shape artificial intelligence.
‘AI-Driven’, it’s a phrase we’ve added to more and more of our lives throughout this past decade. Not just when discussing phones, personal computers and cars, — but thought, theory and conjecture as well.
A Mindhive Case Study: ASBFEO
In May, the office of the Australian Small Business and Family Enterprise Ombudsman engaged Mindhive to run a public discussion to discover what Australian small and family businesses need from Government to recover post Covid-19. The insights generated were reflected in the ASBFEO’s COVID-19 Recovery Plan released on 25 May.
